Updated instructions - New to Vanilla, don't understand some options

I'm new here to the forums and Vanilla. I'm currently creating my first forum, but I'm kinda lost on some things.

I am looking for some updated documentation. I've searched the forums but only get outdated material. I've check Vanilla's documentation and can't find what I'm looking for. Some terms, I just don't know what they mean, such as Permalink, Sink, Announce, and I also want to figure out how to make a post sticky.

Please help!

    Permalink is a link to a discussion, that doesn't change. It's the title with dashes converted into a link.
    For example : the title is "birds", the permalink will then be
    http://yoursite.com/discussion/12345/birds
    Sinking a discussion is putting is all the way at the bottom of the discussion list
    Sticky is the same as announcement in this case, putting it all the way at the top.
