Why are the embed URLS for the iframe not 'pretty' URLs ?

I was disappointed to see the URLs for the iframe are 'ugly' URLs, not the SEF version of the URLs. Is it technically necessary that they appear that way? Seems like it would be much better for SEO if the SEF version of the URLs were used.
