Moving Wordpress authentication

edited March 2011 in Vanilla 2.0 - 2.8
Lets say I decided that Vanilla did everything I needed for my website front end, and Wordpress was no longer needed. Actually that is exactly what I decided. Is is possible to move the Wordpress users to Vanilla (i.e. user name, and password)? Can I just grab their password using phpmyadmin and plop it into the gdn_users table or won't that work? Its a new site and I only have about 25 users to worry about.

  • Probably, no. -ish.

The passwords will be the hard thing to transfer. If you only have a few dozen users, the easiest way would probably just to create those users by hand and give them a new random password. There is a button you can tick in the user's account to get Vanilla to mail them with a new password.

  • That's doable
