Analytics ping back
petern
New
Today I discovered the Analytics ping back, due to vanillaforums.org being down this morning, which caused my forums to run incredibly slowly. There is actually documentation about this, but it's hidden on the Statistics Plugin page, which isn't a very obvious place if you don't have the Statistics Plugin enabled.
"We ask that you please do not disable the reporting of this data. If you must disable this data reporting for some business reason..."
Is "I want my site to have sensible response times" a valid reason?
It is usually considered pretty anti-social to do this sort of ping back without letting your users know. Please consider making it way more visible to your users that analytics exist, and please make it opt-in, from the Dashboard.
