API - getting URL to discussion?

I'm trying to build a "Latest discussions" part for our site using the Vanilla API, but I can't see a way to fetch the URL of the discussion?
Of course, using DiscussionID I could do something like: http://vanillaforums.org/discussion/[DiscussionID], but that would generate an address without the slug and AFAIK having multiple URLs to the same content should be avoided with regards to search engines and so on.
Any ideas?
