Proxyconnect seems to work but WP widgets not show up

Using newest Vanilla I can log into the embedded forums just fine with my WP user account and I can see the Vanilla widgets under WP->Appearance->widgts. When I add one of these widgets to a sidebar nothing is output on the frontend. My other widgets appear to be working just fine. Any thoughts? Where should I start?
