will existing tags remain if I upgrade from default tagging to tagging enhanced?

As above really. Will existing discussion lose their tags if I unistall tagging plugin, remove it from site, and then install tagging enhanced?

    Hi,
    I made the change anyway, and the tags were maintained in the new plugin!
