[2.0.17.9]Spam Applicants on Dashboard

I am using 2.0.17.9 and everyday I got 6-7 spam applicants.
Is it a security bug or sth? All spam applicants have mail.ru e-mail extensions.
Here is a screenshot of awating applicants on my admin dashboard;

I think these are just spam bots. Our next release has email verification and email banning which may be of use in your situation.

Thanks...I re-activated Recaptcha, I hope it avoids the spam bots...
