    I've been trying to get the EmailDiscussion plugin working on my site (it may work fine on yours), which should allow you (as admin) to email a new discussion to all members, if that's any help?
    Whether I can get EmailDiscussion working or not, the functionality you describe is what i desperately need on my site...

    Yes me too. It's an important plugin to have especially when you need to email our news that has effect on the whole community.
