Theme Tags in Pockets?

Hi, I'm trying to use theme tags such as {discussions_link} and so forth in a pocket. But the code is not returning the Discussions link like the theme typically does, instead the code itself is displayed. How do I make these function within a pocket, some mod to the plugin?
