Trying to separate category titles from subcategories

Hi, first of all I want to say that this theme is amazing. But I'm having a problem with something. As you can see in the picture below I the whole forum page is blended into one column with a white background. What I'd like to do is separate them into sections. For example having ''loyal2thegame main'' along with it's three subsections separated from the ''hiphop/r&b'' category by 10px. So basically having the titles of the different sections have a transparent background would be perfect.

Could anyone please tell me how to do this? I've tried changing this in the CSS but it's just not working :'(

    Are you using .18.1? That changed the category view completely for me. Now it looks like the discussions view.

    Your idea is nice though. Maybe anyone has a solution for that.
