Lightbox extension?

edited August 2007 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
By now, about everyone knows about the Lightbox Javascript. Another guy made a wordpress plugin for everyone. Is there any plans for anyone to make an extension for Vanilla to do the same thing? Would love to have one but have NO idea how to create it.

  • I'd think that, first, vanilla would have to have some sort of photo gallery functionality.

Also, one thing I didn't like about that page was that he floated the thumbnails to get around mozilla's unforgivable lack of inline-block, which carries with it some unfortunate side-effects.

Mainly that, unless you want your pictures to run over whatever immediately follows them, you have to jump through hoops to clear their container. Also, float margins don't collapse like regular blocks.
  • In other words, someone would have to explicitly make this into a vanilla extension on their own :)

I'm an idiot. Yes, you don't have to tell me. Raw Html. Hello! It's a beautiful thing. Got it working. Looks great to me. http://www.calvarychatt.com/cbb/comments.php?DiscussionID=41
It's safe enough since we don't have "membership". I'm the only one that posts on it. So it's more like an informational board instead of a forum.
  • Hi, I just finished writing my "LightGallery" extension. And now I noticed that LightBox is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 2.5 License - http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.5/ Is that a problem? On my page I have something like "Credits: Vanilla 1.1.2, Prototype, Script Aculo, TinyMCE, Lightbox", so I completly forgot about it. untill now :(
  • I think that so long as you attribute the LightBox people (person?) in the LightGallery readme, there's not a problem - at least that's the way I read it.
  • Yeah, the question is: mention LightBox in readme, on the site or link to them on the site? It's one person, and I already wrote him a mail. But don't know whether I'm gonna get an answer
  • Just bung it in the readme and that's fine mate ;)
