Upgrading after converting from phpbb?

If logging in with a user id of 1 is required for upgrading vanilla, and phpbb uses user id 1 for the anonymous account how do you upgrade?

Unless it's possible to just move all the user ids down 1 and delete the anonymous account.

    You actually don't have to log in as user id 1. We just say that to try and avoid confusion with most installations.

    When you import from phpbb, you get a use flagged as Admin which is fine.
