Can't login with LiveJournal open ID: Email is required

I as trying to login to my forum running 2.0.18.b2 with my usual openID, dandv.livejournal.com. After logging in to LiveJournal and allowing the request ("Yes ; always"), I got this error:

Email is required.

Turns out I get the same error if I attempt to login here at vanillaforums.org. I've been using this LiveJournal OpenID for years to log into many sites (Stack Overflow comes to mind), and never had any problem.

I'm having the same issue (and it got reported to me by a user). Any hints on how to resolve this -- or perhaps disable the OpenID button (while still leaving the Google login available, as that seems to be working)?
