HELP, Please... new to forums and installations
I believe that I created the DB correctly.
Created a subdirectory since there's also a blog on this site
Uploaded the Vanilla files to the subdirectory via FileZilla.
Went to domain.com/vanilla/ and get this error message:
Not Found
The requested URL /vanilla was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
What did I do wrong? What did I miss? Your assistance
will be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks Karen

You should at least get a Vanilla page stating whether the proper conditions are satisfied for install or not.
try /vanilla/index.php
Is it your blog, or apache (it will say apache at the bottom of the page) that is throwing the not found?
Your blog could be controlling the directories, as Vanilla does... (if rewrite is enabled)
For example, if I enter /mysite.com/whatever, the Vanilla not found page will show, not the server's.
I believe that it was a blog issue...
I really appreciate you.
