  • C-uniT, my response: HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA! ok, but seriously, this leads me to believe that the last version you encountered was probably the earlier versions of windows (95/98/se/me). While a rare few of those occurence do still occur under 2k/xp, it's not THAT bad. I still found that funny however, I think it was the nostalgia of all the frustration in the past. One part remains absolutely true in that animation, the help feature: FUCKING USELESS. :)
  • Yeah, this thing is *old*.
  • I don't know why someone would be offended by it. If they do get offended by it then I suggest they step back from the internet and look at the world around them :P

At my current job I had to use a Mac when I started. I've never had so many damn errors and crashes from 1 machine in my life. I'd heard so much about them but I couldn't believe how crap it was. This was OS9 to be fair but I'd still heard a lot about their greatness. That fucking bomb symbol became the bane of my life.
  • giginger:

yeaaahh... nothing like os nine. that was a treat! glad it's long gone.
  • Hear hear!
  • Glad it wasn't just me then :)

Every time I hear Gruber or Siracusa wistfully reminiscing about how awesome OS9 was, i just want to smack them upside the head and hope some sense drips in.

    Fortunately, they've mostly stopped.
  • HA HA, that is awesome Bergamot, entertaining for sure.
  • Aside from functionality, I still think os9 looks more metal than osx :)
  • Yes, more "metal" from a design standpoint, Not this faked brushed steel stuff (while that does look nice in many cases. But the OSX Jelly Bean interface annoys me to no end. Compare side-by-side Windows Pre-XP and OS9 just in terms of looks. The pastel/metal rivet look of os9 and most of it's icons were great in terms of form and function. While OSX has it's nifty features, I think that os9 looked better on the whole.
  • Tiger looks great, 10.1-3 look sorta plasticy imo.
  • Windows back in the win95/98 was so bad, but the funny thing is, so was Mac OS back in the day. It was like using a typewriter. OS' have really come a long way.
  • heh you guys know the WINE was just released for 10.4.4 . WINE enable Windows only applications (NOT the OS) on OSX. http://osx86project.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=112&Itemid=2
  • hehe true that :)
