My site bonked today. Now what?

I have not made any changes to my site/forum in months. Today BONK. I tried poking around in the files to see if anything had changed. I deleted the cashe… no change. Now what?

    That sort of helped. After I made the edit to config as per http://vanillaforums.org/docs/errors I got the "page not found" page. (did not feel better at this point. )

    I compared w/ a old copy of config I noticed that I was missing a line of code in the config file.

    I am at work now so can't quote the line but was the line that enables Vanilla. Seems important. How does this happen? It was easy to fix but scared the bat crap out of me when I thought I was screwed.
