Wordpress - local install or embed?

I see Vanilla has a Wordpress plugin for Vanilla embeding.

Can I just check - is there a method to integrate a local install of Vanilla with Wordpress?

    I see that I have misread the documentation.

    Can someone just confirm that the current Wordpress plugin works with a local install.

    Does it also work with the hosted option?
