How to create a secure download link

Does anyone know how to create a secure download link.

I wish to upload a file to the vanilla forum (uploads folder) but I only want registered members to be able to download it...

    Usually a hash if it is decent will make it not guessable, then you just need a category for registered members. or you can serve files on the fly, create a temporary download link, etc. Or use a service like dropbox, you should be able to add emails on the fly if not make a suggestion on their site.

    grep is your friend.
