General question: 2 different scripts/installations on one DB, possible?

I was looking at some nice php gallery scripts and wondering if 2 scripts, e.g. vanilla & gallery, could exist on one database, or would it become very very slow, or not work at all?
Reason I ask is because my server will charge through the nose for extra databases as I already run two. One is vanilla and the other is a classifieds script.
I was thinking since the classified script has only 5 tables, it might work?
Im sure its a laughable idea, but then Im a noob to mysql, just curious.
