Hi guys, Todd kindly uploaded. Emocss up for us due to zip issues our end.

Until he updates plugin details, here is a brief of the plugin.

Download unzip and upload Emocss folder to your plugins folder.

Then in dashboard, enable Emocss.

What does it do ?

Quite simply it removes the need for emoticons images, and uses CSS to create these for you, so it uses no images whatsoever .

This means no extra clicks fo your users , and no extra pings to your server to fetch images.

Plus it is fast, handling all requests instantaneously in the browser, so saves you bandwidth.

How easy is that. If you need help, just give me a shout.

422, In the packet I see a complete set of gifs.
The Xenforo way I talked about it seems using a single big image and only a part of it is called using coordinates according the needs.
    What's your approch?

  • Sorry for the posts above.
I was looking at the wrong folder...
Great plugin, will be default for me.

p.s.: it is possible to add the feature to add some emoticons in the next release?

  • i tested it out now, this is awesome! this could be from chris coyier personally lol. i might use it on our forum with a few fixes, because right now our smileys have white edges due to them being gifs.

  • Yep, exact reason i prefer css over images. Plus performance is faster. Plus renders well on dark bg's

  • is this the alfajango css3 emoticons or something different?

thanks! I was looking at the alphajango code and started putting 2&2 together.

  • great idea and thank you to share it :) but do you know if #hashtag linking still working? I ask it :( because autohashing to search seems incompatible with emotify

    Hiya, I have no idea.

I dont use any plugins on my forums ( active forums that is )

It shouldnt be an issue, but then again I really dont know what you mean by
#hashtag in reference to anything tangible, other than anchor points. If
you could be more specific, I may be able to help .. where does #hashtag
get invoked or added, can you give me a scenario ?

Is it a url build hash ?

  • @422 just simply using the "#" preceding a word in the comment box giving it the ability to click on it #search and getting search results of "search" or "#search" depending on the version of vanilla, just like clicking on mentions @422 gets you to the profile of 422

I may not provide the completed solution you might desire, but I do try to provide honest suggestions to help you solve your issue.

  • Late sorry :) but peregrine has made it clearly...

I don't know why but it doesn't seem (2.1a) that #hashtag linking is broken with this plugin like it's the case for Emotify !
