I've dreamed that one day guest can start a new discussion in Vanilla...I do deem it will be better for anyone who want to communicate with each other and begin a instant topic.

They just have to register first :D

Or anyone can give me a plugin to do such function?
  • This is one feature that my users would love, theres a small but significant number of people who post from behind work firewalls which prevent them logging on. It's the reason we've left our board open despite the few troll attacks we've had.
  • ya, it will be more convenient...
  • This has been discussed an insane number of times before with the same conclusion: guest posting (or anything which involves guests basically being users) is impossible with the way that vanillas core works. While you could make it work with extensions i for one would really not like that task...
  • /me imagines plenty of the following taking place if most forums were truely "open" like described above : Hi Jane! You look like you can use some Viagra and C14L1S TODAY!!!11 ....
  • right, but my users have to sign into a htaccess area and won't login twice. seems that i can't apply this wonderful piece of code. so could you advise me to another smooth forum-software.
  • Is it so hard for them to sign in once and then click 'remember me'? Otherwise i dunno, punBB springs to mind as it gets a lot of praise but i'm not sure if it works anonymously. Infact i cant think of any forum software that does off the top of my head. *ponders
  • The only forum that I can think of that allows you to post as a "guest" is simple machines. However, it requires you to fill out a name/email each and every time that you're probably really better off just joining the forum and selecting the remember me checkbox :P
