[Solved] Is there a recent posts plugin?

edited January 2012 in Vanilla 2.0 - 2.8

I have the recent activity plugin installed and working. It creates a list of recent activity in a side bar panel.
But, it doesn't include recent posts, so i was wondering if it was supposed to, or, if there is another plugin or workaround that can create a panel/pocket displaying recent posts in a panel on the side bar.

I've had a bit of a gander through the plugins, but i didn't find something matching that description

i found this, it should do the trick http://vanillaforums.org/discussion/comment/145351#Comment_145351 but being a total noob to css/html etc, can anyone tell me where to put this code? a plugin would be easier but i'll have a go at this.

Well i didn't find a recent posts plugin.

But i have succeeded in having the recent posts on my joomla home page by way of an RSS feed.

For the benfit of other noobs like myself, i will put a quick description about how i did it.

**Via your joomla administrator/module manager; Install an RSS reader to your joomla administrator (search RSS reader in google - there's gotta be over 100 to choose from.) I used simple rss reader http://www.joomlaworks.gr/content/view/20/42/

Then locate your vanilla forum rss feed. (You may have to be logged in as admin to do this, I don't know)
    It should be at http://www.yoursite.com/discussion/feed.rss
    eg mine is http://www.paddocktalk.com.au/forum/discussions/feed.rss

copy the URL from that page and paste it into the RSS module in the Joomla administrator/module manager/Module mod_jw_srfr

choose the other settings and Publish the module

    viola!**

I know this description is full of holes, but it would've saved me time if i found something like it a few days ago.

my home page with the feeds is located at http://www.paddocktalk.com.au/ if you want to see an example, although, there's not a lot to feed into it at the moment.
