New Forum and Spam Controls

I have installed the new forum and have embedded it into my site.

I have also downloaded, installed and enabled the Stop Forum Spam plugin. My question is how do I know it's working?

I would like to add either Extra Questions the user has to correctly answer and/or add a captcha to the registration process. But, cannot find any - some I have found I believe are out of date.

Any pointers would be great fully received.
