Accidentally deleted cache/ directory ... what to do?

edited February 2012 in Vanilla 2.0 - 2.8

Hi,
I accidentally deleted my cache/directory and after creating a new (empty) cache/ directory, I cannot access my forum anymore. I just get "Bonk" :-(

What do I have to do to get my forum up and running again?

Best regards,
Fabian

@fjaeger - it is good practice to explain how you managed to answer your own question, for others who may find this question in the future.

@whu606 you are right, here is my solution:

it seems to be important to have the following directory structure:

    cache/
    cache/Smarty/
    cache/Smarty/cache

all three directories have to have write permissions (777)

    Thanks.

From what I've learned, it is often necessary to delete the ini files from cache (after moving folders, for example), but it is important to leave the folders in place.
