Header / Footer files?

edited March 2006 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
As I don't know if this excists or is easy too implement I will just post this here:

Is there an easy way to "wrap" the gui of vanilla in a 'header' and 'footer' file?
This way you can have for example your own site header, with standard content, only at one file place used for all pages.
This would be an easy way to integrate vanilla in an excisting site. You simply split the site in a top and bottom half en stick it in a header en footer file with vanilla between it. sounds like a new tasty sort of sandwich. ah well.

  • Vanilla does include it's own headers and footers, however within those headers and footers are Vanilla specific code pointers to help render what you see now. However, there are extensions you can obtain or build yourself to pull content into Vanilla. If you're currently running a 0.9.2.x version, this is not easy to do without some programming knowledge and the will to get yourself a bit dirty. In the next revision however, it should be much easier to modify the code base via templates. Hope this answers your general questions. Everyone else feel free to link this person up to some extensions you'd recommend :)
