Chatbox with Vanilla forums?

edited March 2012 in Vanilla 2.0 - 2.8

Hi there, I am a new Vanilla forums user and I was wondering, are there any ways to integrate a chatbox/shoutbox with my self hosted vanilla forums? I've been digging around for one but all of the plugins that I've found have been outdated or the plugin author has given up on it.

So yeah, basically: Is there any way I could easily integrate a chatbox/shoutbox with my vanilla forums?

I have Van2Shout installed on a brand new install of Vanilla Forums and it works quite nicely. Just make sure you set appropriate folder permissions (i.e. chmod -R 755 Van2Shout). I couldn't enable the plugin (in fact it didn't even show up in the list) until I modified permissions.

  • i am using Van2shout too. it is only display side panel. can't we get it to custom page ?

  • Well the problem with Van2shout for me is that it shows up after I enable it, but there is no box to type messages into. I have set the vanilla permissions for it correctly so I don't really know what the problem is.

  • try to change user permission

  • User permission? What?

  • go to dashboard > roles & permission

  • As I said in my second post, the permissions are set correctly. The problem is not that I cannot see the chatbox, but that nobody can see the little box that you're supposed to be able to type in.
