Preview look for unregistered users?

Hello,

I am moderating a forum that has the problem that many people read-only, but only a few actively contributing. This is partly due to the fact that over time the questions tend to have been answered, people read the answers and leave without registering.

I am thinking:
Would it be possible to have kind of a "preview look" for unregistered users, so that they can read for example only the first 300 words (or 2000 characters) of a discussion?

I know that I can keep unregistered users from reading certain categories or block them alltogether (with the Walled Garden plugin), but I hope that my approach attracts more registered users in the long term?
