Best Way To Submit Sitemap + Embed Theme?

Hi there, I have just recently installed VF on a subdomain and I am unsure how sure I submit the sitemap to Google. Since I am using the embed theme, VF is currently masked behind a page of my main site.
Do you think it is best to submit the sitemap as an individual entry in Google Webmaster Tools (GWT)? or should I include the sitemap as part of my main site?
Also, I'm hoping to restrict users from directly accessing my forum page directly (eg. forum.abc.com) and instead redirect it to the VF embeded page. Does anyone know if there is a way to achieve this?
