This weeks project. forumTickers

Years ago, I developed a website that showed Signature Tickers.

Incidentally the tickers below are LIVE tickers, not static images

When I say years ago, I mean like 10 years ago. We had massive success with the site. But back then it was php 4 and jquery hadnt been invented, and css styling was all done inline .. and we all worked off Tables.

As this is my primary residence for chatting and showing you guys stuff, I thought I would bloggify progress on here, and get some feedback.

Whether this is something you would use, is not of interest to me. But general feedback is always welcome.

This is a ticker site, that enables users to create timeline tickers, with 3 functions:

  1. countdown from an event

  2. countup to an event

  3. calculate age

I am looking for someone to assist with a weight ticker so feel free to pitch in.

Anyhoo, here is a typical ticker.

Custom Forum Tickers at ForumTickers.com

...................................................

The tickers are presently fully functional, and its very heavily coded in php. But we have many many bugfixes..

Converting the site to pure css ( tableless ) design has taken me 4 days solid, and fixing some of the php errors etc is on the agenda, and its a fix as we find ...

Basically, you may create a ticker now.. the login / registration system works but I have some work to do on it..

Showcase area is still in need of work lol. So is the user area.

Essentially, users can upload their own sliders and rulers and deploy them live for others to use. We are still ironing out some kinks here.

Plans.

We may be looking to setup ( at small cost ) a sort of developer bit, for allowing web owners to change the imagetopng text to their own site and domain. Then you would have custom area for your users.

Still working on that.

Custom Forum Tickers at ForumTickers.com

We will be deploying the site irrespective, as it has bugged me for years that we didnt maintain the old site.

The old site was horrendous ( looking at it now ) and the code, had so many errors that firebug back then would have had a field day.

Anyhoo, direct link if you would like to have a play is: http://forumtickers.com

If you wish to offer positive suggestions, please feel free.

As you can imagine, a custom system for your website. Could mean extra traffic and exposure, as these tickers get posted everywhere.

When we owned and ran Tickertag, we had over 10 million tickers in circulation, and back then there was only 56 ppl who used the internet LOL

Anyhoo, have a look.. and feel free to pitch in with your opinion.

    Just checked stats.

Google page 1 within 24 hours for forum tickers, 12 million results.
    Uniques last 24 hours 790

    Not bad for day one.
