Payment gateway

I've just set up a new project, to build a community around an 'open source' creative project. I wanted to take a subscription off of people (this is the way it is being funded), and sign them on to the community at the same time. The best way I found to do this was through using IPB (Invision Power Board) and setting up subscriptions/payments on registering. But the look/feel and utter complexity/bloat of IPB makes me long to do this in Vanilla. Any way to implement this in Vanilla for Paypal, then other systems like nochex, authorize.net, etc?

  • Interesting; I was just looking into the feasability of this yesterday.

Doesn't mean I have any idea how to do it, though ^_^'
  • Last I checked paypal, they had a neat shopping cart API that you could code around. I believe they have a subscription billing option also, so you could charge $5 a year for membership and such. The pleasant odor of a people extension that calls this API is forming in my mind. Only downside is when it comes to fraud, they will freeley refund mony out of your account unless you can show a packing slip for goods delivered (and HTTP server logs don't count!) Of course, this info aged since last I checked--about two years ago. It may be better or worse now.
