How does it work, if customer uses their own domain?

Ie.
Backups
Hosting etc.

Are all hosted plans iframed ?

We allow custom domains, and they're not iframed. The customer points the DNS of their custom domain at their vanillaforums address via CNAME, and our system intelligently loads the correct forum when they access our network.

  • After looking at the plans more closely today, I found that some of the basic plugins that I get for free with self-hosting are missing in the $50 plan.

If I get these 2 things, I would seriously considering a hosting plan:

    1. A cheaper "Individual" plan (~ $20 / mo.) for really small forums ( < 25K monthly page views). I have a very niche community and I never ever see getting more than 25K page views per month.

I paid about $140 for 3 years with my current hosting provider. It's been 3 months since I signed up, and so far they have provided excellent service and support. Features, performance, up-time, and everything else seems greats. I'm extremely happy with them. So to shell out $50 / mo. doesn't really seem worth it.

But if there were a cheaper plan, the equation might change.

    1. Access to all plugins

Of course, this is just a "wish list".

    Thanks.
