Open core... when the core is too tiny.

edited July 2012 in Feedback

I was wondering...
1. Why does it say open source when they really mean open core?
2. Why are there so many features that are only for hosted plans?
3. Why is the core... so tiny?

  • All of the plugins and themes available on this site are os.... i dont get your question

  • What I mean is that there are so many things only for hosted users:

    • Badges
    • Polls
    • Reactions

    Etc

  • The core is open source, yes. There is no such thing as open core.

You think the core is tiny, it took a year, for the first release of v2. Make a forum forum yourself, if you have time and money.

It is is good that it is built economically. It is not vanilla philosophy to be bloated. You have the power to develop anything you need.

Yet another person who think open source grows on trees.

None of what you mentioned should be in the core.

if you want a tiny forum, try savage beast it is only 500 lines of code

Ask yourself why there is hosted plan.

    grep is your friend.

  • You might be thinking of AGPL. Which is the most ridiculous licence ever invented.

Every other licence allows you to produce your own stuff that you don't have to distribute. it is called SaaS or software as a service.

    grep is your friend.
