Regarding Magpie Feeds on 2.0.18: I have not even been able to... enable this plugin at all. It gives me an error and gracefully forwards me back to the plugin page, with the plugin left disabled.

Myself, I simply deleted the debug(); function in rss_fetch.inc (I believe that's the correct file).

I am not a Vanilla developer, but I would suggest starting with enabling the debugger plugin
I would personally recommend not using it coz Google will punish you then
