Can't enable Google/OpenID SSO; Twitter/Facebook works fine

Using the latest downloadable bits, I'm unable to enable the Google or OpenID authentication plug-ins. When I do so, I briefly get the little "working" animation, and then the page simply goes back to showing the plugin as disabled. I haven't had this problem with either the Twitter or Facebook plug-ins, which enabled fine.

Any suggestions?
