How can I use jsconnect without the popup?

My authentication is done with Mozilla Persona (http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/persona/) which requires to load a js library and call a function that opens a popup in which the user logs in.
The issue I have is that jsconnect also wants to open a popup resulting in two popups.
Is there a way I can direct JS connect to simply call the required js function?
