SMF 2.0.2 to Vanilla 2.0.18.4

Ok, I have looked at the available documentations, and do I understand that there is no way to convert the two? I have access to my databases if that is the best way? What is suggested at this point?

The Vanilla 2 Exporter supports the following forum exports:
Vanilla 1.* and 2.*
vBulletin 3.* and 4.*
phpBB 2.* and phpBB 3.*
bbPress 1.*
SimplePress 1.*
SMF (Simple Machines) 1.*
punBB 1.*
Joomla Kunena

Now, there are a few threads on the forums about SMF 2.* and I think they converted to phpBB and then to Vanilla. Also you can compare the DB structure of SMF 2 with the DB structure of Vanilla and see if you can manually pump things over with SQL statements.
