Wordpress comments integration

Sorry, I've looked around the community and can't really find a clear answer...
Is there a way for Vanilla Forum (2) to be used as Wordpress comments and have Wordpress recognise those comments for the comments_count hook?
Everything's set up and ready to go (www.aussie-gamer.com), but the comment count doesn't appear to reflect the actual amount of comments on the articles.
