A couple of really dumb 1.0 questions...

Sorry for this, but anyway...

#1. How do I enable HTML posts?

#2. How do I make the top title so it's half orange and half black?

Thank you.

    1. you can enable HTML posts by installing the HTMLformatter extension from here
http://lussumo.com/svn/vanilla/trunk/extensions/HtmlFormatter/ (if you are using v1)

    2. You can use html tags in the site title field under application settings. For instance I use an image as my header on my site as opposed to text.
  • 2. specifically, the <strong> tag with the default theme will make text orange in the title.

Many thanks mate you're an absolute star, worked a treat.

One final question, is there anyway to make the application form slightly less elitest, and also remove the text that says they'll have to wait for e-mail confirmation? I want users to have access as soon as they hit submit ideally.

EDIT: Thanks to itchy too, that worked a treat as well :)
  • i believe the text you are looking to change is stored in /languages/English/definitions.php

but correct me if i am wrong.

That's just the job, thanks again jaredb :)
  • blizeH,

Extra tip: copy the dictionary definitions that you want to be different from /languages/English/definitions.php and put them in conf/language.php

That way they won't be overwritten when you update Vanilla.

One final dumb question (d'oh, sorry!) - how do I get it so it displays the user's role history?

    Thanks
  • That's another extension you'll need to activate. It's called Role History I think.

Just searched for it and can't see to find it in the directory unfortunately :(

One more question (jeez, I bet I'm really annoying people now, sorry)....

I created a 'moderator' category on the forum and gave it the same permissions as member but with a few extra, when I assigned a guy to moderator status however he couldn't view any discussions or categories, nothing. What did I do wrong?
  • go into category management, edit each category, and make sure moderator is checked.
  • blizeHblizeH ✭✭
Will I have to do that everytime I make a new category too?

no. when you make a new category, you are asked which roles should have access to it. i think all the roles are checked by default. so be careful if you make a category that's supposed to be admins-only that you uncheck the members box.
  • blizeHblizeH ✭✭
    That's brilliant, thanks itchy.

Wasn't actually as much hassle as I thought to allow them access on the categories :)
  • nah, it's not so bad. have fun :)
  • blizeHblizeH ✭✭
    Cheers :)

Anyone know about role history please?
  • yes, what about it?
  • blizeHblizeH ✭✭
Where do I get the extension? :(
  • Its not on the add-ons directory, but it is avaliable via SVN. http://lussumo.com/svn/vanilla/trunk/extensions/RoleHistory/ If you don't want to install SVN, then create a 'RoleHistory folder in your extensions folder, then create a default.php in that folder with the contents of the above default.php.

Also, if you want members to have immediate access to the forum, you can set that in settings / registration settings. Set the "New member role" selector to a role that has full access to the forum (Something other than banned or applicant) and your new users will then be signed in immediately after filling out the registration form.
