Redirected once embedded comments load (analyticstick.json not found?)

I have embedded comments (not in wordpress) working fine, but as soon as the comments load into the page the browser is redirected to the full forum. Using 2.0.18.4 on Apache.

This appears to be because /settings/analyticstick.json is not found which causes the redirect, yet this 'file' is found at that location when the whole forum is embedded, and also when viewing the unembedded forum.

Does anyone have any idea as to what might be going on here or how I can solve this problem?

    Additional info:
    Its related to the 'unembed' value - the redirect doesn't occur if I turn off the setting to pop the dashboard out of the embed, despite the fact that the dashboard is not part of the comments box.
