Linking to language version from external page

hi,

i am using vanilla 2 at http://community.netigate.net/answers/ and got the multilanguage plugin working. in the footer you can change the languages.

I want to use a blog at http://community.netigate.net/ and want to link directly to the right language like via http://community.netigate.net/answers/?locale=en-CA or something similar.

is there a way to do it? any ideas? maybe with a cookie based solution?

the benefit for the user would be that he wouldnt have to change the language again on each site.
