Post to User's "Activity" from plugin

Inside the User's Profile, there is the activity wall... is there a way to write "statuses" to it, such as "Waterskiaddict is using this plugin".

    Sorry, I should go into more detail. I wrote an addon that has TV Shows and lets users select their favorites.

    Is there any way to add to the activity log without just injecting into mysql?
