Is this at all possible?

I'm not going to say it's impossible, but it's not really the way Vanilla was built. Why not just create a new role for each user?

If you're still planning on using Vanilla as a forum, it doesn't really make sense to allow only one person into a category.
  • Yeah, this is quite likely what groupings would be intended for blizeH, At the very least, you should have two to three users per group if you plan on dividing up access like I think you want to do. Ie: group A can only see 1/3 of the forum, group B can see 2/3 and group C can see it all just like an admin. Otherwise, you would be doing away with groups and assigning individual forums on a per user basis which would be a slightly crazy extention when added to groups, altho probably not impossible to do.
  • I have a question like this. Is possible to create a groups to work together in a privete discussion? And one member stay in a many groups? (this is different to create a many roles). I understand for "private discussion" a topics that only the member of the group can read and write (hide discussion to anyone else, include for the search). It could be a powerfull tool for the cooperative work for develop proyects.
