mmm, sounds like a stupid question but what's new in vanilla1.0? is there a list of new features or release notes

  • Other than tons of bug fixes and many enhancements, it's pretty much the same vanilla you might already be using. I think if mark kept a change log which you had to read, both of your heads would explode. The main improvement is proper and validated xhtml along with some very basic templating and dozens of now organized and centralized extensions. If someone want's to run through a more verbose list of differences between 0.9.x and 1.0, go for it.

The list is huge, but it is mostly things that you won't notice visually, like... Faster database queries Optimized database structure Delegation in the code for better extension writing Templating New xhtml & css that better conforms to standards New, easier to use management screens More refined, granular role permissions New autocompleter that doesn't screw up like the last one Whispers back in the core (which actually made things faster) People, the user management system, which can be easily integrated with other applications Better XSS-Proofing And much much more... As you can see, most of these changes aren't really "obvious", but they make Vanilla a much more mature product - and very ready for the 1.0 label.
