2.1a33 Install Problem - No Styling

Everytime I try to install 2.1a33 it comes through as having no styling, just on default fresh install. Usingin php 5.3.3 for debian squeeze. Chmodded the entire folder to 777 even =. I saw other posts sounding similar but they appeared to be working with custom templates, this is just a fresh 2.1a33 install.
