Errors in documentation?

The technical documentation for this plugin has a couple of things that are wrong (or I have gotten the wrong end of the stick) http://vanillaforums.com/blog/jsconnect-technical-documentation/
It advocates the use of SHA1 but the actual plugin uses MD5.
It tells you that you can set roles but I could not see anything in the actual plugin that does it.
Any ideas or am I horribly wrong?

Did you solve this @willpower232? Which one did you end up using?
I think that there are mistakes, too.
I tried to use sha1 as it is said in the Documentation, but it did not work, after i change to md5 - all works fine.
