Is there a way to hide discussions in a particular category from everyone except moderators, administrators, and the original poster? I would like certain discussions to be between my staff members, and the original poster only, and have been unable to accomplish this yet.

set up a category with custom permissions, then set the roles the permissions you wish.
you wont be able to have the granularity you are thinking in allowing people to see their own posts but not others within a category. a role can either see or not see a category.

@smw890 As I posted on another thread, I'm working on a plugin that does what you are looking for. You can tag a category as "private" and anything in it would be visible only to the OP and to Users with appropriate permissions.
Development of the plugin is completed, I'm now testing it.
