New add-on: FilebrowserThumbs (integrate Filebrowser into Vanilla)

edited July 2006 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
Hi,

I just added a new extension (FilebrowserThumbs). It provides a way to integrate Filebrowser into Vanilla, by allowing you to display a set of thumbnails from a Filebrowser directory into a message on the Vanilla forum. By clicking on a thumbnail, a user is redirected to the related Filebrowser page. For example you can place a teaser on a forum to grab attention for some new pics. Hope you like it! (Any suggestions r welcome)

    sweet!
  • I'm trying to get this to work, but I must be thick. Relative paths confuse me. Is it relavtive to the extension folder? If my extension location looks like //localhost/Vanilla.1/extensions/FilebrowserThumbs_01/ and my photos are in //localhost/wordpress/wp-photos/, what should the prefs file be changed to? Thanks from thick-as-a-brick!
  • relative would be "../../../wordpress/wp-photos/" as "../" denotes "down one level in the structure on almost all systems.
  • Well, I changed to that but still no gallery. In my page, I have [[gallery ]]. Isn't that what you put if you want to show all the galleries? Thank you for your help.
  • The extension shows images from a filebrowser folder, not the folder structure itself. So [[gallery ]] wille only render a thumbnail if there are images in the filebrowser top folder.

I just added 2 examples to my own website: http://www.wientjes.org/vanilla/comments.php?DiscussionID=16
The first example displays the contents of a specific folder, the second displays the contents of the top level folder.

By the way, the path should be relative to the vanilla root folder, in your case probably ../wordpress/wp-photos (assuming you have installed Lussumo's Filebrowser in wp-photos).

I was finally able to display a gallery in a comment. However, I still can't get a gallery to display on a Page that I created with the page management extension.
  • Hi, I just started using the pagemanager extension. Probably the formatting extensions are not called from this one (filebrowserthumbs is a formatting extension, it was based on transmogrifier). Maybe I will take a look at it, but my extension was intended to be use within posts in the first place.
  • Then I wasn't too crazy after all when I couldn't get it to work on a page. Sorry I didn't mention that bit of information earlier.
