Fetch user avatars from Vanilla to display on Wordpress site

How can I make my Wordpress installation and my self-hosted Vanilla forum share the same avatars site-wide? I'd rather fetch user avatars from Vanilla to display on Wordpress site, but the reverse will also do, though it seems little bit trickier to me. I don't mean Gravatars.
