random javascript error

edited June 2006 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
excuse me for posting this question here. thought since this is a very well experienced community, someone can point me in the right direction. i am developing with wordpress and recently noticed a javascript error; although everything seems to function well. how do i debug this? the error points me to line 2, but that does not tell me much. what is your recommended approach?

  • If you're running firefox, you can simply hit Tools > Javascript console, it will give you a fairly detailed description of the error, and optionally, if you click the associated link underneath, it will take you to the actual file and either highlight if not at least pull you down to the line(s) in question. Additionally, I find it hysterical that wordpress users are coming here for help on how to fix things. I say that because each time I have done a search in relation to wordpress for something specific, the questions there are asked on their forums, yet completely unanswered. ha! Does that help? :D
  • yes, that helps.... thank you. i know. sorry about not posting on the wordpress forum. i am not that fond of it. i adore this community and try to limit my non-vanilla questions to issues that are very basic/simple. for some reason, i only get the javascript error on IE. It is weird/random. Most likely, a poorly written plugin. I am sure I will come across it in time. thanks again for your time. : )
  • It's not a problem, and by all means, don't worry about stimulating a non-vanilla related topic, often at times, it's very refreshing with this lot. :)
